Our other holiday home is higher up the mountain road on the outskirts
of the village of Pitres, a small, sociable village which is quieter
and less touristy than the lower villages of the Alpujarras and a great
starting point for treks around the beautiful La Taha region or further
up into the Sierra Nevada National Park. |
|
Pitres also has a selection of bars, restaurants, supermarket and shops
and a friendly little market every Friday. There is a large swimming
pool 5 minutes walk from the apartment which is open from June to
September and is a great place to relax and sunbathe with a restaurant
next to the pool offering a tasty choice of local dishes.
The apartment itself is a spacious, 2 bedroomed flat on the
second floor. The owners, Antonio and Sonia, live below, on hand to
welcome guests and answer any queries. It is a modern flat, tastefully
furnished and with a modern kitchen and lounge with dining area. The
main attraction of the property is the enormous outdoor terrace which
provides shaded and sheltered areas to relax in and has unparalleled
views of the La Taha valley and its villages below. It would be
possible to stay here without your own transport as local amenities are
nearby and there are daily buses to Granada and the other Alpujarran
villages as well as to Motril and the Mediterranean coast in the other
direction. |
